Pasadena Style

When people generally think of Pasadena, they most likely think of the Rose Parade, it’s campy cousin the Doo-Dah Parade, and the Rose Bowl game played out every New Year’s Day. But Pasadena has been home to a wealth of great architecture since its founding in the late 1800’s as a winter playground for some of America’s most prominent families.

Pasadena Heritage is a local group that has been dedicated to identifying, preserving, and protecting the historic, architectural, and cultural resources of the City of Pasadena for a very long time. On Madison is very honored that one of our projects will be featured as one of the homes on the Pasadena Heritage Spring Home Tour 2015.

For those of you that think Southern California is just beaches, freeways, and strip malls, Pasadena has successfully managed to preserve its architectural gems while welcoming new and exciting design. On Madison has assembled a montage of photos that will take you on a “walking tour” of some of Pasadena’s most beautiful architecture.

Mod In Palm Beach

Palm Beach has attitude.

Slim Aarons, the famous lifestyles of the rich and famous photographer, famously explained his career as photographing “attractive people doing attractive things in attractive places”, and Palm Beach was one of his favorite haunts. Lizzie and Jonathan Tisch, New York A-Listers, certainly qualify to be in a Slim Aarons photograph. Jon, who is Chairman of Loew’s Hotels and Lizzie, fashion maven extraordinaire (think Vanity Fair’s Best-Dressed Hall of Fame), have created a stunning Palm Beach pied-a-terre that exudes Palm Beach chic mixed with Miami sizzle with a touch of Hollywood thrown in.

P.S. I Love You: Palm Springs Modernism Week

I adore Palm Springs. Swimming pools, mod architecture and an ultra cool vibe have made Palm Springs the getaway of choice since the days of the Rat Pack. Palm Springs Modernism Week, that homage to mid-century design, has been an event in Palm Springs for the last 20 years or so. Palm Springs plays host to a week of events including tours of significant mid-century architecture, events and lectures and the Modernism Show, featuring prominent dealers showcasing the best of mid-century design.

So to celebrate Modernism Week, and my unabashed love of P.S., On Madison has compiled a collage of favorite images from this fabulous desert oasis.
