Library Chic

Libraries have to be one of my favorite rooms in a house. It certainly is in our house.   My husband and I head to our library to unwind from it all, enjoy a glass of wine together and talk about our respective days or what we’re planning for dinner.   Libraries are often very personalized retreats that offer a quiet respite for reading, writing or simply taking a nap.

Here are some of On Madison’s favorite libraries that manage to combine comfort and high style into spaces that make you never want to get out of that chair.

Library chicThe perfect double duty room! Chic dinners amidst cozy bookshelves is warm and inviting.

The Rockstar Digs of Joe Mimran

I feel like a broken record when I gush over my love of classic design fused with a modern edge. But the fabulous apartment of Joe Mimran of Joe Fresh and his designer wife Kimberly takes it one step further. Classic meets modern meets rock ‘n roll glam. I mean the gilded goat’s foot stool done in Tibetan lamb is to die for!

Joe Mimran HouseJoe and his wife are fashion mavens and their cutting edge taste is evident in this apartment decorated by interior designer John Barman and Erik R. Smith.

Joe Mimran HouseThe “jewelry” so to speak is the polished Art Deco inspired staircase that winds through the apartment.

Joe Mimran HouseSumptuous materials like zebrawood, add warmth and are a perfect backdrop for colorful paintings and fabrics.

Joe Mimran HouseThere’s nothing I don’t love about the juxtaposition of this Biedermier chest with a lamp by Willy Daro and a palette of cool grays.

Joe Mimran HouseGraffiti inspired art by Jonathan Meese provides urban cool.

Green With Envy: Song Qi

It seems like a lot of exciting design these days can  be found in hotels and restaurants.   Designers are usually allowed more creativity and bigger budgets and the results can be absolutely breathtaking.   Case in point is Song Qi, a new restaurant recently opening in Paris. Designed by the French design firm Humbert & Poyet, we love the exquisite color combination of peridot green mixed with graphic black and white with brass accents.

Song Qi DesignElegant, modern and very tout francaise.
