Gray is the new Camel

On Madison has long been a fan of neutrals. Blacks, whites, creams and taupes that form the backdrop of any room and are the perfect foils for splashes of color. But lately, we’re adoring the soothing, calming, but oh-so-chic neutral that is gray. On Madison thinks of gray as the new camel. Gray is classic in its timelessness, but, unlike camel, which can feel a bit too ladylike, gray feels modern and fresh. Fun with Felt

Any of you out there that are into crafts, are probably familiar with those 8 ½ x 11” rectangles of felt at the craft store that can be cut up to make all sorts of, well, crafty items, from Christmas tree ornaments to dolls. But felt has definitely gone uptown. Usually made of wool, felt is made by matting, condensing and pressing the fibers together, the result of which is a dense, but pliable fabric that adapts itself to a variety of shapes. Designers are rediscovering felt’s versatility and, this year, we’re finding felt everywhere, from the runway, to your dining room.
