Counter Intelligence: Bar Stools

I’m a firm believer that a counter chair is not just merely a place to sit.  A counter chair, or bar stool, if you will, can be a sculptural statement piece that turns that kitchen island or outdoor patio bar into something far more than just its functional self. I’m waxing on about counter seating as I recently agonized over just the right counter chairs for a soon to open coffee and wine bar here in Pasadena.  Upholstered or not, back or no back, the choices are endless.  So On Madison, your ever intrepid style detective, has put together some of our favorite counter seating solutions that will have you sitting pretty.

Grilling Chic

Memorial Day is coming up and that means a 3-day weekend, kicking back, and, of course, barbecuing. If something is edible and grillable then I’m all over it. There’s virtually nothing that tastes better when it has been grilled over coals, hardwood or even gas. But On Madison thinks that grilling is even better when it’s done in style. Forget that beat up old barbecue from your college dorm or apartment that you’re still using! You’re grown up now and that means having friends over and putting your best design foot forward, so check out our fave picks for stylish “cuing”.

Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

Show-Off

If it’s springtime, that means it’s time for the annual Pasadena Showcase House of Design. A rite of passage for decades, flocks of designers descend upon a house in need of serious rehab and transform it into the stuff that dreams are made of (and all for a good cause, as they raise money for causes such as arts sand music education). The Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse and the San Francisco Showcase House are some top draw venues that attract A-list designers and, in turn, raise millions for charity. With that in mind (and the fact that I attended Pasadena Showcase today), On Madison has assembled a collage of favorite rooms to inspire you to go create something beautiful. Click through each image for the source and see more inspiration at our Madison Modern blog Pinterest board.

And to celebrate impeccable design, the annual Legends of La Cienega event will be hosted by the La Cienega Design Quarter. A 3 day long event and gala featuring some of the most prominent designers, this year’s theme is “Where Muses Dwell”. Designers are selected to transform the windows of participating shops, galleries, and showrooms along La Cienega drive. On Madison is proud Geoffrey De Sousa Interior Design selected a pair of vintage parchment & brass lamps from our store for his beautiful window display at Tufenkian Carpets.
