Yellow Fever- Spring 2015 Design Trends

Jonquil, marigold, buttercream. What’s in a name, you say? They’re all variations of this Spring 2015’s design trend color, yellow.

Yellow, in my experience, is one of those colors people either love or hate. But used correctly, nothing brings eternal summer to a room like it. Try a jolt of yellow on a wall, pillow, or accessory and watch your room glow.

Bohemian Rhapsody- Spring 2015 Design Trends

On Madison, your ever intrepid observer, is devoting the next few blogposts to Spring 2015 design trends. It may be cold outside, but we’ve got Spring fever already.

This Spring, channeling that inner hippie is hotter than, well, your vintage platform shoes. Valentino, Prada, and The Row, among other haute couture designers, are reviving the look with enough lace, fringe, ruffles and embroidery to make any girl feel like a wild child. But going Boho, whether in fashion or home décor, is tricky navigation. Done well, Boho is meant to be an independent-minded, freestyle mix of cultures and eras. Done poorly, it ends up being a costume party and looking like you got lost in a Moroccan souk.

On Madison has assembled a collage of Bohemian looks that manage to hit the right balance between free-spirited ethnic style and modern edge.

P.S. I Love You: Palm Springs Modernism Week

I adore Palm Springs. Swimming pools, mod architecture and an ultra cool vibe have made Palm Springs the getaway of choice since the days of the Rat Pack. Palm Springs Modernism Week, that homage to mid-century design, has been an event in Palm Springs for the last 20 years or so. Palm Springs plays host to a week of events including tours of significant mid-century architecture, events and lectures and the Modernism Show, featuring prominent dealers showcasing the best of mid-century design.

So to celebrate Modernism Week, and my unabashed love of P.S., On Madison has compiled a collage of favorite images from this fabulous desert oasis.
