Bunny Chic

This Sunday is Easter, when our thoughts turn to spring flowers, luscious colors like violet, peony, daffodil and grass, and, of course, the Easter Bunny.

On Madison is celebrating the Easter Bunny with a collage of our own favorite “Bunnys”. Designer Bunny Williams has delivered timeless style with her own twist for decades. Celebrated artist Hunt Slonem has elevated the bunny to haute couture for the home with his collection for Lee Jofa. And, of course, no Easter would be complete without an Easter basket filled with beautiful confections that any Easter Bunny would be proud to deliver, specifically treats from Laduree.

May the Easter Bunny bring you a basketful of style. Happy Easter!

Renaissance Modern

I confess I am attracted to that seemingly disparate combination of baroque architecture juxtaposed against minimalist modern furnishings and artwork. Something about the almost religious grandeur of frescoed ceilings and walls paired with modernism is quite irresistible to me.

Case in point is the fabulous transformation of a 16th century church in Milan into a home base for the international architecture firm of Massimiliano Locatelli. The timelessness of the architecture mixes with equally timeless modern design to form a simpatico that defies the centuries of time in between.

I’m loving the way Locatelli has carved work spaces amid the vaulted coffers and pillers of the church.

Pasadena Style

When people generally think of Pasadena, they most likely think of the Rose Parade, it’s campy cousin the Doo-Dah Parade, and the Rose Bowl game played out every New Year’s Day. But Pasadena has been home to a wealth of great architecture since its founding in the late 1800’s as a winter playground for some of America’s most prominent families.

Pasadena Heritage is a local group that has been dedicated to identifying, preserving, and protecting the historic, architectural, and cultural resources of the City of Pasadena for a very long time. On Madison is very honored that one of our projects will be featured as one of the homes on the Pasadena Heritage Spring Home Tour 2015.

For those of you that think Southern California is just beaches, freeways, and strip malls, Pasadena has successfully managed to preserve its architectural gems while welcoming new and exciting design. On Madison has assembled a montage of photos that will take you on a “walking tour” of some of Pasadena’s most beautiful architecture.
